Instructional Systems Inc. (ISI), based in
Hackensack, NJ, has built a reputation over the last 20 years as the proven leader in
using computer technology for education and workforce development. ISI courses provide
both occupation-specific and workplace basic skills instruction and are designed
specifically for teens and adult learners. ISI software has been used in secondary
schools, correctional facilities, government agencies, vocational training centers,
community colleges, Head Start programs, and community-based organizations. Our partners
include the United States Department of Labor, Goodwill Industries, the Urban League, the
American Association of Community Colleges, the New Jersey Department of Human Services, the New York City Department of
Employment, the New York City Human Resources Administration, the New York City and
Chicago Housing Authorities, and community colleges in 34 states. Instructional Systems
has been awarded more United States Department of Labor Welfare-to-Work grants than any
other entity, and is currently running the highly successful High Performance Learning
Project with the National Association of Private Industry Councils and the American
Association of Community Colleges.
Individuals who have used ISI software to
prepare for employment have obtained higher program completion rates, job placement rates,
job retention rates, and hourly wages. High school and adult education students who have
used ISI software for basic skills development and remediation have made academic gains on
assessment tests that have opened new paths to personal, educational, and vocational
success.
ISI currently offers computer-based
instructional curricula for preparation in career areas including: Building
Maintenance, Customer Service, Home Health Care, Office Skills and Security Guard.
These programs are consistent with the current national vocational certification efforts
that require training programs to have consistent content and format nationwide. This is
meant to insure employability regardless of where the employment opportunity may be. Each
of the programs features individualized instruction, self-paced learning, competency-based
instruction, diagnostic reports, and built-in glossaries with audio support. Applied
workplace math and applied communication skills training are integrated into each of the
five occupational training programs. This is true as well for employability or job
readiness skills. To provide more focused instruction in basic math and reading skills,
ISI offers Workplace Mathematics and Workplace Reading Skills.
All programs contain an automatic management and
accountability system that tracks each student's progress, analyzes student performance
and documents time spent on the computer. The ISI Client Tracking System
allows for a vast array of data for a great number of program participants to be managed
securely and efficiently: demographic information, aggregate performance data, job
tracking, and individualized service plans. |
