Focus on Remediation
What every ISI College Remediation Customer Receives

Each school participating in the ISI Web-Based Remediation Pilot receives a customized site for their school with the following features:

Your College Web-Based Remediation Home Page:

  • This is the central point of entry to your college’s Web-based Remediation site. The home page can contain any information the instructor deems relevant to the student. From this page the student can access links to the college's main site, the Student Center, online job listings, course discussion forums, and mentoring assistance. Students can check their progress in the course through the Web Manager, send off an email for help or check in the forums to see who else is online. Updates can be made as often as the instructor wishes.

Teachers' Lounge

  • From the Teachers’ Lounge instructors at all schools participating in Web-based learning programs can communicate and collaborate to exchange tips and ideas. ISI makes its "Guide to Teaching Online" available here. Instructors are also able to access student performance data through the Web Manager as well as syllabus customization tools.

Student Center:

  • In this area students can communicate with their instructors and peers via threaded discussion forums and chat rooms. ISI will make its "Guide to Online Learning" available here. Students can find FAQ’s to answer common questions and opportunities to further their learning.

News:

  • The News section allows instructors to make students aware of important details before they begin each online study session. The News section allows a ‘broadcast’ approach as well as an option for simultaneous email distribution to all students.

Web Manager:

  • The Web Manager allows students and instructors to get a comprehensive overview of the progress of their studies or their course. The Web Manager provides over 30 different reports on every aspect of scholastic performance. Easily customizable and importable to popular word processing programs, the Web Manager reports allow every stakeholder in the educational process to remain on top of results at all times. It can even be configured to alert instructors and mentors by email of students performing above or below designated norms.

Course Login Page:

  • The course login page, securely accessed through a username and password unique for each student, gives the student entry to the Remediation courses including: College Remedial Math, College Remedial Reading, College Remedial Writing Mechanics, Foundation of College Mathematics as well as other courses.

Email For Every Student

  • If students do not have email accounts, they can be provided by ISI and integrated easily into the Web-Based Remediation Program.

Mentoring

  • Students will be have access to mentors at all times at the touch of a button. Through ISI-mediated help forums, mentor sites and FAQ’s, students can get help with their general or specific questions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. ISI supports Distance Learning with a rich set of support avenues to suit the needs of students and faculty.

Syllabus Customization

  • Instructors will be able to customize their course syllabi via an easy-to-use Web-based, automated form. This tool will be available in the Teachers' Lounge area of each college's Web site. This Syllabus customization allows instructors to match the remedial curriculum with their own teaching style or with state and national curricula and to associate other on-line nad off-line resources with the remedial courses.

Joblink Online

  • Joblink Online provide students with a comprehensive set of access points to online resources for finding part-time or full-time employment. Joblink Online queries can be matched to student skills, preferences, and geographical locations.

Technical Support

  • ISI provides end-to-end technical support to all faculty and students involved in the project. We stand behind all our products and services and with free 800-number support as well as a host of email- and Web-based support services.
