Description:
This course is designed to improve reading comprehension and vocabulary skills, to develop a variety of reading rates, and to prepare students for college reading.This computer assisted instruction program covers four major skill areas: Narrative Text, Information Text, Persuasive Text, and Reading Comprehension. The course will individualize instruction for each student, selecting the appropriate skill areas according to your pattern of response -- the manner in which you answer questions.
Grading Policies:

This is a pass/fail course only; however, to pass, a student's overall scores must average at least 80 percent.The ASSET Reading Test will be administered on campus as a posttest to determine the student's readiness to receive a P.The student may take longer than one semester to complete the course if he or she has gotten all his/her assignments completed by the due date.Five failures to complete assignments by due dates will result in a student being withdrawn from the class.

    Role: The mentor's role is to be available during regularly-scheduled office hours each week to tutor students in the content areas being studied on-line, and to track students’ progress in the program.
